Ninja Air Fryer vs. Tower Air Fryer: A Detailed Comparison

When comparing the Ninja Air Fryer and the Tower Air Fryer, both dual oven models, there are a few key factors to consider. The Ninja has a 9.5L capacity, while the Tower offers 11L. After measuring, I found the internal sizes to be very similar, casting doubt on the Tower's claimed larger capacity. With the Ninja priced at £250 and the Tower at £150, let's determine if the Ninja justifies the extra £100.

Internal Features and Build Quality

Both air fryers have similar internal structures. They come with a single tray and no other internal accessories. While I haven't used either extensively, I have turned them on for inspection.

Tower Air Fryer:

  • Lighting: Includes an interior light and glass windows, allowing you to see inside while cooking.
  • Trays: Comes with a flat tray, a deeper tray, and a drip tray. The drip tray can also be used as a baking tray.
  • Cooking Levels: Features four different shelf levels, enabling multiple layers of cooking.
  • Build Quality: Feels well-made and robust, especially considering the lower price.

Ninja Air Fryer:

  • Display and Controls: The front panel has a basic timer display. You can adjust settings using a dial for functions like Max Crisp and Roast. However, the preset stickers look somewhat tacky.
  • Build Quality: While sturdy, it doesn’t feel significantly superior to the Tower despite the higher price.

Usability and Performance

Tower Air Fryer:

  • Interface: The front panel is fully illuminated, with clear preset options for fries, sandwiches, toast, and cakes.
  • Cooking Process: To start, select a preset and press start. You can adjust the temperature and time independently for each oven. The light bulb can be turned on to see inside while cooking.

Ninja Air Fryer:

  • Interface: The presets are selected via a dial, which then adjusts the cooking mode. To start cooking, you push the center button.
  • Cooking Process: For dual cooking, select the mode for each side individually and press start. To stop, press the corresponding end button.

Cooking Test: Chicken and Burgers

For the test, I placed similar-sized chicken pieces and burgers in both air fryers, set at 180°C for 10 minutes.

Results:

  • Tower Air Fryer: The chicken and burgers were juicy and cooked evenly. The multiple shelf levels were useful for even cooking.
  • Ninja Air Fryer: Delivered similarly good results, with juicy and well-cooked meat.

Final Thoughts

Both the Ninja and Tower air fryers perform well, but the Tower stands out with its better value for money. Its additional features, like glass doors, interior light, and multiple shelf levels, add convenience and functionality. For £100 less, the Tower Air Fryer offers excellent performance and build quality.
