Main Ingredients
- Pork Belly: Approximately 1.2 kilos, cut into smaller pieces for better cooking.
- Garlic Puree: Makes preparation easier.
- Chopped Ginger: Adds a nice zing.
- Soy Sauce: Provides a salty, savory flavor.
- Chinese Five Spice: Key for that authentic Chinese taste.
- Brown Sugar: Adds sweetness to balance the flavors.
- Olive Oil: Prevents the marinade from getting too thick.
Instructions
Prepare the Pork Belly:
- Set the pork belly aside and focus on the seasonings.
- Use silicone utensils to avoid damaging your slow cooker.
Create the Marinade:
- Add Chinese five spice, garlic puree, chopped ginger, brown sugar, soy sauce, and olive oil into the slow cooker.

Mix in the Pork Belly:
- Add the pork belly slices to the marinade.
- Use your hands to ensure each piece is well-coated.
- Optionally, drizzle a bit more soy sauce on top.
Marinate:
- Marinate in the fridge for two hours. Simply remove the slow cooker insert and place it in the fridge.
Cook the Pork Belly:
- Slow cook for 3-4 hours on high or 7-8 hours on low.
Final Touch – Sticky Marinade:
- For a sticky finish, prepare an additional marinade with lemongrass, ginger, barbecue sauce, honey, garlic, and soy sauce.
- Drain the cooked pork belly and use the leftover juices for stock.
- Return the pork belly to the slow cooker, add the sticky marinade, and mix well.
Serving Suggestions:
