The Ninja Crispi is built for small, fast meals: 1 to 2 servings, cooked and served in the same glass container, most of them done in under 20 minutes. This guide covers what it cooks well, a cook-times chart to get you started, the four modes, and how to turn any air fryer recipe into a Crispi recipe. If you are still deciding whether to buy one, see our full Ninja Crispi review.
The four Crispi modes, and when to use each
The Crispi keeps it simple. The FN101 has four functions, the FN100 has three (no Bake).
- Air Fry runs at 400 to 425°F and is your default for fresh food, from chicken to vegetables.
- Max Crisp uses rapid high heat for extra crunch. It is the one to reach for with prepackaged frozen food.
- Recrisp revives leftovers, and it is the Crispi’s quiet superpower. Five minutes brings yesterday’s fries or pizza back from soggy.
- Bake (FN101 only) handles golden-brown jobs like cookies, bread, and small bakes.
Ninja Crispi cook times and temperatures
Use this as a starting point, not gospel. Every air fryer runs a little differently, so check doneness and cook proteins to a safe internal temperature (165°F for chicken, 145°F for fish). The Crispi uses top-down heat, so whatever sits directly under the PowerPod cooks fastest. Flip or shake halfway.
| Food | Mode | Temp | Time (starting point) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fresh-cut fries | Air Fry | 400°F | 15 min, shake halfway |
| Frozen fries | Max Crisp | 400°F | 12 to 15 min |
| Chicken wings | Air Fry | 400°F | 22 to 25 min, flip halfway |
| Chicken tenders (fresh) | Air Fry | 400°F | 10 to 12 min, flip halfway |
| Salmon fillet | Air Fry | 400°F | 8 to 10 min |
| Shrimp | Air Fry | 400°F | 6 to 8 min |
| Broccoli or Brussels sprouts | Air Fry | 400°F | 8 to 12 min, shake halfway |
| Bacon | Air Fry | 350°F | 8 to 10 min |
| Frozen nuggets or mozzarella sticks | Max Crisp | 400°F | 6 to 8 min |
| Cookies or small bakes | Bake | 325°F | 10 to 12 min |
| Reheating leftovers | Recrisp | preset | about 5 min |
How to convert any air fryer recipe to the Crispi
Ninja’s own rule is the simplest: follow the air fryer instructions but reduce the time by 3 to 5 minutes, then check. The Crispi heats fast and cooks top-down, so food tends to finish a little sooner than in a basket. Two more adjustments help. Because it is small, cook 1 to 2 servings at a time or split a larger recipe in half. And use the crisper plate, which lifts food so air flows underneath for an even, crisp finish.
Quick proteins
Lean proteins are where the Crispi shines: chicken tenders, salmon, and shrimp all cook in well under 15 minutes. Pat them dry first, season, and give a light spray of a high smoke point oil like olive or grapeseed. Flip proteins halfway so the underside crisps as well as the top.
Crispi chicken tenders
Pat dry 2 chicken breasts cut into strips. Toss with a teaspoon of oil, salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. Lay on the crisper plate in a single layer, not overlapping. Air Fry at 400°F for 10 to 12 minutes, flipping halfway, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
Crispy vegetables and sides
Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, carrots, and potatoes all crisp nicely. Cut into even pieces, toss with a little oil and seasoning, and do not overcrowd, which is the most common mistake.
Crispy broccoli
Toss 2 cups of broccoli florets with a teaspoon of oil, salt, and a pinch of garlic powder. Spread on the crisper plate. Air Fry at 400°F for 8 to 10 minutes, shaking once, until the edges char. Finish with lemon or parmesan.
Frozen foods done right
This is what Max Crisp is for. Prepackaged frozen fries, nuggets, mozzarella sticks, and spring rolls come out hot and crunchy without thawing. Keep them in a single layer, use Max Crisp at 400°F, and start checking a few minutes early since the Crispi runs efficiently.
Reheating leftovers (the Recrisp trick)
If you only use the Crispi for one thing, make it this. Recrisp brings leftover fries, pizza, fried chicken, and roast vegetables back to crisp in about five minutes, far better than a microwave. Because you store food in the same glass containers you cooked in, leftovers go straight from the fridge to the PowerPod.
Kung Pao chicken in the Crispi
A full meal that cooks right in the glass base. Make a sauce in the container with soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, a little honey, grated ginger, garlic, and chili. Add chopped zucchini and bell pepper, toss, and Air Fry at 400°F for 15 minutes, tossing halfway. Add marinated diced chicken and Air Fry another 15 minutes, tossing every 5, until the chicken reaches 165°F. Finish with cashews and green onion. Leftovers reheat on Recrisp for 5 minutes.
Tips for the best results
- Pat food dry. Moisture is the enemy of crisp, especially on proteins.
- Use a light oil spray. A little high smoke point oil makes the difference on hash browns, fries, and skin.
- Do not overcrowd. Top-down heat needs room. Cook in batches rather than piling food in.
- Use the crisper plate. It elevates food so air flows underneath for even crisping.
- Flip and shake halfway. The side facing the PowerPod cooks faster, so turn proteins and shake loose food.
- Mind the heat. The glass gets very hot and stays hot for several minutes. Use the handles or mitts.
Accessories that help
An extra set of CleanCrisp glass containers makes back-to-back cooking and storage easier, and a spare crisper plate is handy. Check our Crispi review for the container compatibility details, since the sizes differ between the FN100 and AS100 series. For the wider range, see the Ninja air fryer guide.
